Kris Bannon, DVM, FAVD, DAVDC

Kris Bannon, DVM, FAVD, DAVDC received her veterinary medical degree from Texas A&M University in 1998. She worked in a small animal hospital in Santa Fe, NM for ten years before starting the first veterinary practice in New Mexico dedicated to the oral health needs of our companion animals.

In 2008, she was the first veterinarian in the state of New Mexico to earn the title Fellow of the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry (FAVD). She became a Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College (DAVDC) in 2010. As a Diplomate of the AVDC, Dr. Bannon became the first board-certified veterinary dentist in the state of New Mexico!

She is the Past-President of the American Veterinary Dental Society, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Foundation for Veterinary Dentistry. In her free time, Dr. Bannon enjoys volunteering with the Peter Emily International Veterinary Dental Foundation, using her advanced dental skills to benefit disadvantaged and captive wildlife in sanctuaries across the country. Dr. Bannon enjoys teaching other veterinarians about quality dental care, and offers classes and training presentations frequently within New Mexico and nationwide.

Dr. Littles

Originally from the Midwest, Dr. Littles received her veterinary degree from Purdue University. She moved to New Mexico several years ago where she had been practicing as a mixed animal veterinarian. Knowing that oral health is important in both large and small animals, she pursued extra courses to learn how to give her patients that best oral health care possible. It was during these extra courses that she realized she wanted to specialize in small animal veterinary dentistry. She recently completed her residency with Dr. Bannon and the rest of the staff at VDOSNM in July 2021. Her practice is now limited to Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery.

Dr. Grellmann

Dr. Ginger Grellmann graduated with a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Michigan State University in 2011 and a doctorate in veterinary medicine from Oregon State University in 2017.

Dr. Grellmann’s professional interests include dentistry, pediatric development, pain management, and Fear Free® medicine. Her goal is to provide pet owners (fur-parents) with careful guidance to help their pets (fur-kids) have the longest and best quality of life possible.

Dr. Grellmann is wildly enthusiastic about dentistry, she determined that dentistry and maxillofacial surgery were her callings. While in general practice, she completed over 200 hours of continuing education credit hours in general and advanced dentistry techniques. Now, Dr. Grellmann is studying to be a specialist in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery under the guidance of Dr. Bannon and Dr. Littles at Veterinary Dentistry & Oral Surgery of New Mexico.

Dr. Grellmann is originally from the suburbs of Washington, DC, in northern Virginia. She moved out to the pacific northwest to be with her husband in his hometown of Portland, OR, where she practiced general medicine for 5 years prior to starting her residency in veterinary dentistry. She and her husband have two sons, one dog, and a cat. She and her family love good food (coffee, chocolate, and homemade baked goods), good company, and traveling.

Elisa

Meet our Office Manager, Elisa. She is a native New Mexican who graduated from the University of New Mexico in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She later attended Central New Mexico Community College, earning an associate degree in veterinary technology in 2008. Elisa has spent the last ten years working as an RVT, manager, and educator in the veterinary field. She is passionate about progressive veterinary medicine and animal advocacy. She has two cats and a bunny who she adopted from the local shelter. When she is not working she enjoys traveling, hiking, and snowboarding.

Alyssa

Originally from California, Alyssa moved to New Mexico in 2003 and discovered her love for animals. After graduating high school, she studied at PIMA Medical Institute where she graduated from the vet assistant program. Alyssa continues to work hard for our furry friends and has been with VDOSNM since 2015. She is currently attending Central New Mexico Community College to complete her Bachelor’s degree in Biology. On her free time, she is either hiking, camping or skiing when the weather permits. She has a cat named Simon, who loves eating almost as much as he loves his owner.

Chrissy

Chrissy Banning, our Veterinary Technician, studied at New Mexico State University where she earned a Bachelors in Animal Science and then attended Central New Mexico Community College and earned an associates in Veterinary Technology. Chrissy has been in the industry since 2006. She is currently a mentee for the VTS in dentistry. When Chrissy isn’t working for our patients, she, her husband and their son Charlie enjoy traveling and spending time with their 7 cats. She also enjoys being active, baking, solving puzzles and playing kickball.

Dorothy

Dorothy joined the Veterinary Dentistry team in 2017. She is a registered veterinary technician in the state of New Mexico since 2006. She has worked in both veterinary emergency and general practice. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in General Biology with a minor in Agriculture from Fort Lewis College and an Associates of Applied Science from Maple Woods Community College (Veterinary Technician program) On her days off she enjoys traveling with her husband Philbert, spending time with her family and 2 cats (Nizhoni and Dory). She also enjoys baking, sewing and watching movies.

Betsy

Meet Betsy Stelck, a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), who started at VDOSNM in 2019. A recent transplant from Minnesota, Betsy studied at The University of Minnesota and graduated with a BA in Psychology, Human Services and later attended Argosy University and received an Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology. As a child, Betsy knew that she wanted to work in the veterinary field and has done so since 2006. Betsy is passionate about Veterinary Dentistry because of the positive impact it can have on our four-legged friends! During her free time, she enjoys being outdoors, exploring new places, getting involved in animal rescue, and surrounds herself with unicorns, rainbows, and cats.
