Periodontal disease is the most common disease is small animal medicine. Proper treatment of this condition relies on effective diagnosis and treatment planning. This 4 hour hands-on class is designed to help the veterinarian and veterinary technician understand and identify periodontal disease, properly diagnose teeth which can be treated and which teeth cannot be saved, and provide basic treatment of compromised teeth.

Periodontal charting involves knowing normal anatomy, as well as knowing the most common abnormalities and how to identify them. Handling of the instruments involved in cleaning, polishing, and detailed dental charting will be explained and demonstrated. Use of perioceutic therapies will be demonstrated and practiced as well.

This class is open to veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and veterinary assistants. It has been approved for 4 hours of continuing education by the New Mexico Board of Veterinary Medicine.

There are two classes available per day. Each class will include lunch, either at the end of class, or at the beginning of class, respectively.
