Additional Help

It is not unusual for veterinarians to receive little or no training in dentistry and oral surgery during veterinary school. This often leaves them very uncomfortable and ill-equipped to handle common dental problems. Although many veterinary schools are working hard to improve their veterinary dental training programs, veterinary dentistry is a very new field.

Veterinarians may encounter questions or complications during a dental procedure. Dr. Bannon is happy to provide phone consultations for veterinarians that have questions about a specific case or patient, especially while the patient is under anesthesia. This is provided at no-charge as time and availability permits.

Our Goal

  • To provide dental consulting by phone or email to veterinarians in New Mexico.
  •
To provide hands-on training in various dental skills, including intra-oral radiographs and extraction techniques.
  • To provide lectures on dental topics, such as feline odontoclastic resorptive lesions, the importance of intra-oral radiographs, and the most common dental problems encountered in small animal practice.
  • To to help veterinarians in New Mexico, southern Colorado, and west Texas provide better dental care to their small animal patients.

Classes

For a nominal fee, Dr. Bannon offers classes for additional training.
